What happens next

I wanted a perfect ending.

Now I've learned, the hard way,
    that some poems don't rhyme,
and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Life is about not knowing,
    having to change,
taking the moment and making the best of it,
without knowing what's going to happen next.

Delicious ambiguity.

Great expectations

The pleasure of expecting enjoyment
is often greater than that of obtaining it,
and the completion of almost every wish
is found a disappointment.

Resolutions

Now is the accepted time
to make your regular annual good resolutions.

Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.

Proceed with abandon

In art and dreams may you proceed with abandon.
In life may you proceed with balance and stealth.
For nothing is more precious than the life force
and may the love of that force guide you as you go.
